چکیده

Composting is an important waste management strategy, providing economical and environment-friendly approach to sanitizing stabilizing biosolids for land soil amendment. However, the resulting product can contain a large number of organic pollutants that may have adverse effects on ecosystem. This paper presents occurrence eight widely used (four linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS C10-C13), nonylphenol its mono- di-ethoxylates (NPE) di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP)) in full-scale composting processes. LAS homologues were detected at highest concentrations (range ∑LAS: 2068–9375 mg kg−1 dm), exceeding limit fixed EU Directive draft. The concentration levels NPE DEHP significantly lower (up 27.5 156.8 dm, respectively) did not exceed their limits Ecotoxicological risk assessment when compost amended onto soils has also been evaluated. measured represented medium-low most compounds, although it was enough case C11 C13 NP.

Environmental Fate and Safety of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates

lkylphenol ethoxylates are nonA ionic surfactants widely used in many institutional and household cleaning products and industrial processes. They have been popular for their effectiveness, economy and ease of handling and formulating for more than 40 years. They function as emulsifiers, detergents, wetting agents and dispersants. One of the largest application areas for alkylphenol ethoxylates...

Screening test for assessment of ultimate biodegradability: linear alkylbenzene sulfonates.

A relatively simple shake-flask system for determining CO2 evolution was developed to assess the ultimate biodegradability by soil and sewage micro-organisms of chemicals which enter the environment. Linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) were used as model compounds to evaluate the method and were found to undergo substantial biodegradation in this dilute system. At the 30 mg/liter test concentr...

Biodegradation of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in sulfate-leached soil mesocosms.

Aromatic sulfonates (R-SO(3)(-)) can be used as sulfur sources by sulfate-starved bacteria in laboratory cultures and the corresponding phenols are excreted from the cells. The present study was conducted to demonstrate whether such desulfonation reactions also occur in sulfate-leached agricultural soil, where desulfonation of organic sulfur compounds may have agronomic importance as a S source...

Effects and risk assessment of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in agricultural soil. 5. Probabilistic risk assessment of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in sludge-amended soils.

Linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) can be found in high concentrations in sewage sludge and, hence, may enter the soil compartment as a result of sludge application. Here, LAS may pose a risk for soil-dwelling organisms. In the present probabilistic risk assessment, statistical extrapolation has been used to assess the risk of LAS to soil ecosystems. By use of a log-normal distribution model,...

Ecological and health risk assessment of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in Doroodzan Dam (Fars)

Background and Objective: Nowadays linear alkyl benzene sulfanate (LAS) is widely used in the production of various detergents. The purpose of this study was to assess the health and ecological hazards of this pollutant on target organisms such as fish and daphnia in the Doroodzan Dam water. Materials and Methods: According to the research objective and given existing restrictions, 21 water sa...
